A Delta flight reported seeing an "unmanned airplane" near Logan International Airport on Wednesday morning, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

State police said the flight crew had seen the drone over the ocean about 15 km east of Boston around 11:15. The drone seemed to fly over a boat, state police said.

Delta flight 5521, a Bombardier CRJ9 plane from Philadelphia, landed safely, the FAA said.

"The crew did not have to take any avoidance measures and no injuries were reported," said Jim Peters of the FAA Communications Office.

The aircraft was flying at around 3,000 feet and the drone was estimated at around 2,700 feet, state police said.

The FAA allows drones to fly at a maximum altitude of 400 feet above the ground or from a structure.

There was no contact between the aircraft and the drone, officials said.

No additional information on the unmanned aircraft has been published.
