McAdams tweeted Saturday around 11 am that he had just received a call from Love, who "graciously" congratulated him on his victory in the race.
"I thanked her for her service to our state and country. I wish him the best of success, "said McAdams in his tweet. There is a lot of work to be done and we need the bipartisan unit to do it. "
The call to the franchise has been confirmed by Dave Hansen, Campaign Director of Love.
Love called a press conference Monday at the Utah Republican Party headquarters in Salt Lake City on Monday to give the impression that his campaign could challenge the outcome of the race.
Hansen said that he had heard rumors, but that there was no truth.
"Yes, I heard," will she file a complaint? Will she do that? & # 39; No. This is nothing about it. It's over, "Hansen said.
"Mia just wants to talk about the campaign, talk about politics. She just has some ideas that she wants to share with everyone. "
Asked that voters can expect to see Love back in the running for the seat in two years, Hansen said he had no idea.
"Give her a little time, she can be back. We will see, "he said.
She was defeated when she first applied to Congress in 2012, while she ran against Democratic Rep. Jim Matheson. Two years later, Matheson – who had twice seen his district undergo a complete reshuffle in the hands of a Republican-controlled legislature anxious to see the seat occupy the GOP – resigned.
The final margin of victory in this year's competition between Love and McAdams – certified by County Clerks on Tuesday – was only 694 votes. That's just outside the 0.25 percentage point margin for a recount.
He said his first priority would be to lobby for the current uncertainty of so-called "dreamers" – young adults brought into the country by undocumented parents. Former President Barack Obama had promised them legal residence and job security as part of the deferred action program for child arrivals, but President Donald Trump has end this attempt by saying that Congress must act to solve the problem. They did not do it.
