Republicans make war on health care in America

Make war

For the publisher: After blowing up the deficit with a $ 1.5 trillion tax cut for the rich, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wants to use the debt he's created as an excuse to reduce health insurance and social security.

After pledging to protect people with pre-existing medical conditions, President Donald Trump has partnered with 20 attorneys general of Republican states in a trial to eliminate these protections.

Republicans are doing everything they can to dismantle the health care market, putting millions of Americans at risk. A Republican bill, sponsored by Sens. Lindsey Graham and Bill Cassidy, would let states waive the protection of those with pre-existing disorders.

Everyone has a pre-existing illness or knows someone who suffers from it. This includes things like diabetes, cancer, heart disease and even pregnancy. If Republicans do not take away our health care, we may live long enough to qualify for Medicare and Social Security. unless the Republicans eliminate them too.

This is the reason for these November elections. The republican war against health must be stopped.

Just and honest

For the publisher: Here we are again in the season of electoral cacophony. We are subject to a plethora of phone calls, despicable advertisements on television, negative news and a snow storm of road signs and posters. Candidates take a word or two out of context in the words of their opponents and from these remarks, an entire rant is fabricated to discredit their opponents.

Negative campaigns are not new, but they intensify with each successive election cycle.

The request for donations for the campaign has become, to say the least, expensive. Even small amounts of money can be a constraint on the average citizen's budget. However, it is extremely unreasonable for wealthy individuals and businesses to give a candidate unspeakable sums. And now is the time to prevent hidden money from influencing our electoral process: every dollar of donation should have a name.

It is time we tried to make our elections fairer and more equitable.

Her too

For the publisher: My friend, who is pushing 80, came into my house recently, dropped out and started telling her story.

She was 21 years old and was going to the school of nurses a few blocks from the bus stop. She was taken to an empty lot and almost raped.

At the police station, they told him that the guy was just trying to feel it. Not serious.

I've been struck by the fact that the event is always with her. Deeply. As if it was yesterday. And as she always hurts so badly.

Wondering if I could do anything for her other than listening – and for her story not to simply disappear – I decided to write this letter.

Better than ever

For the publisherIt's refreshing to see a celebrity supporting our president. Kanye West was recently spotted in Naperville. I am not a fan of his music, but I would shake his hand for standing up to the media and all those who had become so biased against our commander-in-chief.

I find this disgusting every time I open the paper with all the negativity expressed towards President Donald Trump and his family. Use your people's heads. If it goes down … we all go down. It's like wishing the pilot of the plane fails! Let's show some support; the economy is better than ever, stocks are skyrocketing. We are on the right track, people!

Open your eyes. Do not let your hate blind you.

– Steve Cesare, Naperville

Tension time

For the publisher: Recently, I read Frank Capra's tale "You Can not Stand It", a 1938 tale about love, family, the misfortunes faced by the average man in a difficult financial period, as well as than on social inequalities.

During the current period of tension, many of Capra's themes are now so numerous in the modern United States. Capra's works have shown the fables and fables of a period encompassing the Great Depression, the Second World War and immediately after.

Today we are confronted with similar situations presented by this renowned filmmaker. We only have Frank Capra to summarize our successes and failures. Can you imagine what he would do with us now?
