A $ 250,000 study will be conducted to determine the patterns of shark migration around Queensland, in the hope of preventing further attacks.
Three people have been attacked by sharks in Cid Harbor on the Whitsundays over the past two months.
This includes Victorian physician Daniel Christidis, who died Monday after being mauled during a yachting holiday.
Today, 22 ministers, scientists, tourism operators and local government members gathered in Whitsundays to discuss solutions to the series of shark attacks.
But they officially dismissed the baited drumming lines, despite requests from visitors.
"A family came to see me the other day and told me that if the drum ropes are not installed, they will not come here during the family vacation," said local member Jason. Costigan.
The Queensland government has ruled out drumming lines because they could give swimmers a false sense of security.
