(Meredith) – A restaurant in Virginia is under surveillance to make fun of a 17-year-old boy who has paid his bill with neighborhoods for the most part.

Cohen Naulty said that he and two of his friends went to Beer 88 Lynchburg for lunch on Monday, and he decided to pick up the $ 45 tab. He paid with a bill of $ 20, several quarters and even left a $ 10 tip.

The staff later posted a photo of the pieces on Facebook, saying:

We are just going to caption this .. . "How not to pay in a restaurant, because that's the most pleasant thing we can say about this ridiculous.

The post also included hashtags "we are 88 beer, not a Coinstar" and "no home training".

The restaurant denied shaming of the teenager, calling the post a "joke", triggering a violent reaction and leading to the complete deletion of Beer 88's Facebook page.

"It's just American currency," Naulty told WSET-TV. "I am allowed to use it.It is not illegal.I do not do anything wrong."

Naulty said at the release that he had used the money from tipping that he was winning as a waiter at another restaurant to serve his friends to lunch at Beer 88.

"I love paying people's meals Even though I have to gather my last quarters to do it," he writes in a Facebook post.

Beer owner 88, Yao Liu, and several customers said the post had been disproportionate.

also responded to the criticism with excuses, according to WSET:

In response to our previous post, it was posted as a joke, conceived as a joke and should be taken as a joke. We do not want to say publicly that something like this can be boring for people working in the restaurant and retail industry.

Meanwhile, Naulty started a fundraiser on Facebook to treat someone "once a week" to a free lunch. Dozens of people have already donated more than $ 1,600 in two days.

"Paying for someone's meal can change a very bad day in a single moment of kindness. I would like it to continue and be fun, "he wrote. "We will use 100% of donations to pay other people's meals and post videos of their reactions!"
