Reuben Foster of San Francisco 49ers arrested in Tampa on charges of domestic violence

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster was arrested Saturday night at the Tampa, Florida, team hotel for domestic violence.

An arrest report from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office revealed that Foster had been incarcerated at 11:11 pm. He is detained without bail.

Foster was arrested by Tampa police at 9:10 pm at the Grand Hyatt, where the team stays before playing against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

The 49ers did not immediately respond to the request for comment. However, general manager John Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan said in April, following a previous arrest against Foster for domestic violence charges that were eventually dropped, that the team had a zero tolerance policy in this area.

According to a statement issued by the Tampa police, Foster and a 28-year-old woman were reportedly involved in a verbal altercation on Saturday night. The woman told the police that during the altercation, Foster "slapped her phone with her hand, pushed her to the chest and slapped her with an open hand on the right side of her face," the statement said. . Police said that a one-inch scratch had been observed on the woman's left collarbone.

The police also stated in his statement that Foster and the woman had lived together in the past and had been involved in an "uninterrupted relationship for three years".

Foster has had several conflicts with the law since it was written by the 49ers at 31st place in 2017.

Foster was charged in January in Alabama with second-degree marijuana possession. This charge was eventually dismissed after taking a course on diversion for offenders for the first time.

Foster then faced more serious charges for an incident at his home in Los Gatos, California in February. In April, he was charged with crimes of domestic violence, criminal threats and possession of weapons, after being accused of beating his ex-girlfriend.

One judge ruled that there was no probable cause to the first two charges after the ex-girlfriend withdrew his charges and that the judge found no other evidence to the support of the charges. The charge of arms was reduced to one offense and Foster did not plead against this challenge in June.

He was sentenced to two years probation, 232 hours of community service and a fine of $ 235. He will not be allowed to possess firearms while he is on probation.

After the charges were removed, Lynch told Foster that he should continue to earn his place in the team through his behavior.
