Dr. Joel Fleischman of Morrow would return to Alaska as an extension of the 1990s series, which has been under discussion for almost two years.
CBS develops a restart of its dramedy 1990 North exposure, with star Rob Morrow and creators Joshua Brand and John Falsey.
The project would be a continuation of the program, initially presented from 1990 to 1995, which won seven Emmys, including one for the best drama series. Morrow's Dr. Joel Fleischman would return to Cicely, Alaska, to attend an old friend's funeral, reunite with his former neighbors and meet a new set of strange characters.
Brand is writing the screenplay and will produce films with Falsey, Morrow and Ben Silverman. John Corbett, who played with Morrow in the original, is a producer.
Universal Television, which produced the original series, is also behind the reboot.
Talk about a North exposure The restart has been going on for a few years. Darren E. Burrows, who played Ed Chigliak in the series, tried to fund new episodes. At a meeting panel at the 2017 ATX festival, Brand said that Morrow was working to revive the series.
"It looks like we all want that to happen," said cast member Cynthia Geary (Shelly Tambo).
The potential North exposure revival joins many other restart / revitalization projects under development in the television landscape, ranging from Design women at Buffy against the vampires at The hills.
