Richard Madden will be offered a role in James Bond after impressing Barbara Broccoli

The bodyguards seized the nation while Richard Madden played the role of Sergeant David Budd, charged with protecting the Home Secretary, but was involved in a terrorist plot that had seen him lose his charge in the explosion of a bomb.

The drama was tense and praised him for his performance as a police officer who was convinced he was looking for the perpetrators while fighting against the terrorist organization and his relatives who thought he was suffering from mental health problems.

It is now claimed that the role has attracted the attention of James Bond's boss, Barbara Broccoli, who may well be preparing to offer her the most coveted role on the big screen.

A source told the Sun: "It's serious that it seems [Madden] will get the job.

"Not only is he at the top of Barbara's list, but she's getting ready to propose the role."

If he gets it, it would mean that he beat players like Idris Elba, who was in the game to replace Ian Craig, as well as players like Tom Hardy, James Norton, Aidan Turner, Cillian Murphy and even Emily Blunt.

The film recently suffered setbacks after director Danny Boyle gave up running the project after he and Barbara faced creative differences. It was claimed that there were plans to kill the spy. He later explained that it was because he was too fan of the franchise to join his vision of the continuation of the film.
