Richard Parsons Leaves CBS Corporation's Board of Directors for Health Reasons

Strauss Zelnick, Board Member, is the new Acting Chair of the Board of Directors. CBS said the changes take effect immediately.

"This appointment follows a unanimous decision made tonight by the CBS Board of Directors," the company said.

While the CBS assets (CBS), such as its broadcast network and Showtime, are buzzing, the company is changing.
The Moonves, long-time CEO of CBS, left the company in September after two reports by Ronan Farrow of the New Yorker on allegations of sexual misconduct in his past. Moonves had been locked in a tug of war that had lasted several months with the majority shareholder, Shari Redstone.

Moonves called the allegations of misconduct "false" and said the claims went back "as part of a concerted effort by other people to destroy my name, reputation and career," showing the majority shareholder Shari Redstone. His team rejected this suggestion.

Since Moonves resigned, Redstone has consolidated control of the company. Board members close to Moonves have fled, new representatives have joined the board and the board has been radically transformed. Parsons, for example, was brought on board earlier this year at the request of Redstone.

The arrival of Zelnick was another sign of the review of the CBS Board of Directors. He arrived on board early September at the same time that Moonves resigned.

Zelnick has a big job: he is CEO and president of Take-Two Interactive Software, a leading video game publisher. He is also former CEO of BMG Entertainment.

Parsons' tasks are now transferred to Zelnick. At the top of the list: Identify a new CEO for CBS.

Upon leaving Moonves, its longtime operations manager, Joe Ianniello, was appointed interim general manager. Ianniello has replenished the ranks of CBS management over the last few weeks, but it is thought that he is only one of the candidates for the position of permanent general manager.
