Former Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino believes that Kentucky governor Matt Bevin is partly responsible for his dismissal in the midst of several scandals surrounding his program.

Pitino spoke with SI Now about his new memoir entitled "Pitino: My Story", which was co-written by Seth Kaufman and published this week. The book covers his experience with the New York Knicks and the Boston Celtics by coaching Kentucky and Louisville.

Pitino says that if the book is the truth, there is something about it that is not 100% sure.

"I think the governor is behind me being sent back to Louisville," he said. "I have a lot of people close to him who say he was after the AD and I wanted to see you.I can see why people would send me back.I mean two scandals in four years. But I can see. "

Pitino was placed on unpaid administrative leave the day after the FBI announced his charges last September as part of a corruption program involving shoe manufacturers and several basketball assistant coaches .

He was fired three weeks later after an investigation revealed the alleged release of hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes and kickbacks to encourage recruits to sign with their schools.

A federal indictment released two months later implied that Pitino was fully aware of a plan to pay a high school recruit and also participated in the planning.

Pitino argues that he has done nothing wrong.

His program also had to cancel his 2013 NCAA championship in the middle of an escort scandal, the first time in the history of the men's basketball division I that a championship has been released.
