The other day, we used a stream of descriptors to point to Rihanna, a multi-tenant megastar, and we now have another one. As reported by the people, it was announced on Thursday that Rih had accepted the role of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Government of his native Barbados.
Real conversation? We could also use "extraordinary" to describe Rihanna's seemingly unrelenting investments. But does she have time to be a "plenipotentiary" (which we had to admit)? The role, also known as "a person, especially a diplomat, with full independent power of action on behalf of his government, usually in a foreign country," seems quite intense.
On the country's government information website, it is said that the woman whose name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty received the "specific responsibility to promote education, tourism and investment for the island".
With regard to the appointment, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley said:
Rihanna has a deep love for this country and this is reflected in her philanthropy, especially in the areas of health and education. She also shows her patriotism in the way she gives back to this country and continues to cherish the island as her homeland.
She has also demonstrated, beyond her success as a pop icon, a keen sense of creativity and insight into business. It is therefore fitting that we commit ourselves and give it the means to play a more definitive role in the transformation of Barbados.
Without our knowledge, Rih's new appointment is in fact a long-awaited promotion, having been one of Barbados' cultural ambassadors since 2008.
In his new role, Ambassador Fenty said: "I could not be more proud of taking such a prestigious title in my home country. Every Barbadian will have to play his part in this current effort, and I am ready and eager to take responsibility. I look forward to working with Premier Mottley and his team to reinvent Barbados. "
