Robert Downey Jr. responds to Chris Evans' letter Captain America

Robert Downey Jr. responded to Chris Evans' letter of thanks to Captain America, in which he explained how Avengers 4. Both actors are currently in Atlanta, where there are rehearsals for the upcoming Marvel film. In addition to Downey and Evans, other actors – including Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, Paul Rudd and Scarlett Johansson, as well as Elizabeth Olsen and Pom Klementieff – have all been spotted on the set. The shooting started in September. According to Mark Ruffalo, these new takes "finish the movie,"rather than just setting scenes or adding lines.

These last days on the set are certainly a moving period for the actors. Many of them play these characters from the first phase of the MCU and work together almost as long on the screen. The original Avengers are so close that they even got tattooed. Saying goodbye at the end of the shoot will certainly be bittersweet, because for some it will be for the last time. Evans posted a tweet commemorating his wrap Avengers 4, and to say what honor Steven Rogers had played. Iron Man and Captain America have been the mainstays of the MCU since 2008 and 2011, respectively. The actors have become as iconic as the characters they interpret and it is often difficult to draw a line of demarcation between the two. It's almost impossible to imagine a movie without either of these characters, but it's a reality Marvel fans are slowly realizing that they'll have to face it very soon.

Avengers 4 will mark both a beginning and an end. While it's probably time to say goodbye to actors such as Evans and Downey Jr., the upcoming MCU film series will also usher in a new era of characters. Heroes such as Captain Marvel, Shuri, Black Panther and Valkyrie will take over to take the place of the deceased or retiree. The future of Marvel Studios is in good hands.
