SPARTANBURG Co., SC (WSPA) – HC's Health and Environmental Control Service is offering a free measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) immunization clinic following confirmation of case at Spartanburg Co.

They say that it is an effort to reach parents of young children who need to be vaccinated.

The clinic will be held on Friday, November 2nd at the Inman WIC clinic, located at 6 Howard Street, from 10 am to 3:30 pm

No appointments are necessary and children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent of the legal guardian.

"Increasing MMR vaccine coverage is the single most important measure to prevent future measles cases," said Dr. Linda Bell, Chief Epidemiologist at DHEC. "About 93% of people vaccinated with one dose benefit from permanent protection and about 97% from protection after two doses of MMR vaccine."

Free MMR vaccines will be available by appointment until November 7th at Spartanburg County Health Unit, located at 151 E. Wood St, Spartanburg, SC 29305. Call 1-855-472-3432 for make an appointment.
