The conners The first one took place on Tuesday night without Roseanne Barr – and the way the production was written off might surprise you.
During the first episode, the Conner family talked about Barr's absence in the opening scene. As the family gathers in the kitchen crying the loss of "Granny Rose" three weeks after her death, a worried Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) asks to speak to Dan (John Goodman) alone on the outside.
While the family initially thought they had a heart attack while asleep, she discovered that Roseanne died of an opiate overdose.
"I just got a call from a friend at the coroner's office," Jackie told Dan. "The autopsy revealed that it was not a heart attack. Roseanne OD is opiate.
"It's not possible," says Dan. "We knew that she had a problem. She was taking painkillers only two days after the operation, while it was ibuprofen. It must be wrong. "
"They think she has to take the pills just before bed and that for health reasons it was enough to stop her from breathing," says Jackie.
Throughout the episode, the family discovers a mixture of hidden pills in different areas of the house, including the closet and their freezer.
During an appearance on Brandon Straka's YouTube show Walk far Last month, Barr expressed his disappointment with the way writers decided to end his character's life.

Barr abandoned all financial and creative involvement in the new series after entering into an agreement with ABC.
"She gave up a lot so people could work," Goodman said.
And although he has since made peace with the continuation of the barrel-free series, Goodman told PEOPLE in his recent cover interview with Sara Gilbert and Laurie Metcalf that he had experienced a "bad time" in the weeks that followed the cancellation of the series.
