Dutch King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima arrived in London for a two-day visit.

This arrival marks the first state visit of the Dutch royal family in nearly 40 years.

However, Mrs. May made a delicate entry as she greeted the queen with a revolting reverence before the monarch joined other officials on the ceremonial scene.

This comes just two months after the Prime Minister criticized his reverence technique as he greeted Prince William in Amiens, France, for a memorial service of the First World War.

The King and Queen of the Netherlands kissed Queen Elizabeth on both cheeks and joined her hands upon their arrival.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima were also greeted by other political leaders, including Foreign Minister Jeremy Hunt and Interior Minister Sajid Javid.

The guard of honor was formed by the guards of the 1st battalion Coldstream, as well as by the regiment of cavalry with body of household and the band of household cavalry.

After the reception, the Royals took a procession of carriages for a luncheon at Buckingham Palace.

After lunch, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall escorted the King and Queen to Whitehall from the Netherlands Embassy.

They then visited the tombs of William III and Mary II of England in the afternoon.

William and Mary were the Anglo-Dutch rulers of Britain at the end of the seventeenth century.

They also laid a wreath on the tomb of the unknown soldier.

Before going to tea at Clarence House, King Willem-Alexander delivered a speech in front of Parliament.

While King Willem-Alexander had previously expressed his disappointment at the UK's departure from the EU, he told reporters earlier this month that he was complying with the UK decision.

In the evening, the Queen hosted a state banquet at Buckingham Palace for the Dutch royals.

This was the third official visit of the Dutch royal family, the most recent having taken place in November 1982 by Queen Beatrix and Prince Claus.

The first official visit of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip to the Netherlands took place in March 1958.

The visit of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima ends on Wednesday.
