A warning was issued, a second person diagnosed with monkeypox, a rare and potentially fatal disease.

The Blackpool Victoria Hospital, Public Health England, said that it was "very unusual to see two cases in a relatively short space of time".

They added that there is "no connection in the UK" with the patient diagnosed in Cornwall last week.

The first victim reportedly contracted the infection from his home country, Nigeria, before traveling to Britain.

The victim is currently receiving specialized medical care at the hospital for viral infection that can be transmitted to humans by animals, such as rodents and primates.

Symptoms include swollen lymph nodes

This is the first time that this infection is diagnosed in the UK, said Public Health England (PHE).
