"I can not wait to bring this little one home to spend time with family together."

She also stated that she did not think that having a baby would have an impact on her political career and that her pregnancy would emphasize that it is normal for same-sex couples to have children. .

The couple was referring to their unborn baby as Fionnuala.

Mrs Davidson to return to Scottish Parliament in the spring

Davidson and Wilson have been together since 2014 and had planned to get married, but they ended up using the money saved for the wedding to pay for medical care after their dog, Wilson, was hit by a car.

Ms. Davidson tweeted a photo of Wilson wearing a "big brother" bib shortly after the announcement of Finn's birth.

Ms. Wilson said, "It was wonderful to welcome baby Finn to the world this morning. He is beautiful and already very loved.

"Ruth has done it brilliantly and Finn clearly has his mother's lungs on him."

Prime Minister Theresa May congratulated Ms. Davidson and Ms. Wilson by tweeting them wishing as well as to Finn baby "all the happiness that's there for the future".

Scottish secretary David Mundell said Finn's safe arrival was an "absolutely joyful news".

He added, "I am very happy for Ruth and Jen, they will form fantastic parents and I wish them the best for both as they embark on this exciting chapter of their lives as a family."

Scottish Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon also tweeted, wishing Finn "a life of happiness".

Davidson was often named as the future leader of the British Conservative Party, but ruled out any job opportunities. Her ambition is to replace Ms. Sturgeon as premier in the upcoming Holyrood election in 2021.

Ms. Davidson began her maternity leave during Scotland's October vacation, chaired by Vice President Jackson Carlaw, until her return. She plans to share the maternity leave with Ms. Wilson.
