"I have had so much help from these players and coaches, [co-offensive coordinator] Kevin Wilson and [defensive coordinator] Greg Schiano, said Day. What Greg Schiano did for me last month is something I will never forget. He is the most classy person I have ever known in the coaching profession, the way he has behaved, helped me throughout my career and m & # 's Advised on daily things. "
Day, 39, joined the Ohio State training squad only last year, but was selected as head coach of Schiano, former Rutgers coach and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Wilson, former coach of Indiana. They led Ohio State during the training camp while Meyer was on leave and subsequently suspended, before Meyer resumed his duties on September 2, the day after Buckeyes' victory over the Oregon State .
He was asked if he was considering retiring with an undefeated head coach record, joked Day, "of course."
Day deviated questions about the importance of the three-game sequence for his own career, highlighting the staff, players and Meyer for building a program capable of handling turbulence.
"We are so happy to receive [Meyer] Next week, Mr. Day said, "The culture he has built here is incredible, the foundation he built here. That's what got us through these first three games and throughout the pre-season. The players who were recruited here, the coaches who are here have maintained this situation.
"I'm just humble to be part of such a great tradition."
Day told Ohio State players to "get ready for a fight" against the TCU after easy wins against Oregon State and Rutgers. Ohio State fell from 21-13 early in the third quarter before scoring 20 unanswered points to take the lead, which they never gave up.
"Is there an A-plus-plus?" Quarterback Dwayne Haskins said when asked to rate Day's performance as Acting Head Coach. "He did really well."
