The trailer is out for Detective Pikachu, the very first live action movie centered on Pokemon!
The clip came Monday, thanks to the star of the film, Ryan Reynolds, who embodies the adorable title of yellow film of the film.
"I think we all knew that I would become a miniature detective by repeating the same words," he subtitled. "I just did not think it would be so fast." As all fans know, it's a nod to the character's slogan, "Pika Pika".
In the clip, which exists in a world where Pokemon coexists with humans, Pikachu finds himself at Tim's (Judge Smith), a young man desperately trying to find his missing father. Before things get ugly, Pikachu discovers that Tim can really understand it, while everyone only hears "Pika Pika".
As the title and video game of the same name suggest, Pikachu is a detective (even with a Sherlock Holmes cap) and a former partner of Tim's father. Meanwhile, Tim is a loner with a serious mystery to solve. Naturally, a partnership takes shape.
The trailer contains all kinds of beloved Pokémon, including Jigglypuff, Charizard and Psyduck, while Tim and Pikachu are trying to unveil the truth and lead them on a dangerous journey. Based on what we see here, fans clearly can not expect Reynolds action or smart one-liners.
The film also stars Rita Ora, Ken Watanabe, Bill Nighy and Suki Waterhouse.
Detective Pikachu will be released on May 10, 2019.
