A survivor of the Jacksonville Landing shooting died Sunday morning in a car accident near his hometown of Corpus Christi, KIII-TV told the Texas Public Security Department.
Twenty-five-year-old Ryen Aleman from Robstown, Texas, lost control of his vehicle around 3:45 am as he headed west on Texas Highway 44 in Corpus Christi. Aleman was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his vehicle after repeatedly spilling on nearby railroad tracks, DPS told KIII-TV.
Aleman was declared dead on the scene. The accident is still under investigation.
Aleman, known as "Badrep" player, was one of 117 players participating in the "Madden NFL 19" Classic at the Chicago Pizza GLHF Game Bar in Jacksonville, Florida on August 26th. three and wounding 11.
Aleman told NPR that he and another man hid from the shooter in a booth in the Chicago Pizza washroom, whose entrances are in the game room.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office identified the gunman as David Katz, 24, of Baltimore. Katz, known as "Pain" according to his peers, was a well-known Madden Elite player who competed in Jacksonville on August 25-26. After his elimination from the tournament, Katz returned to the restaurant and opened fire using a handgun that he had purchased in Maryland several weeks before the incident. Police said Katz had died at Chicago Pizza from a gunshot wound inflicted on himself.
Police identified the two dead in Jacksonville as Elijah "Trueboy" Clayton, 22, and Taylor "SpotMePlzzz" Robertson, 27. Robertson of Ballard, West Virginia, won the Madden NFL 17 Classic in December 2016.
