Sabrina's chilling adventures almost paid homage to Sabrina, the teenage witch

Sabrina's icy adventures and Sabrina the teenage witch are about as different as two sets on a half witch named Sabrina Spellman, which is quite purposely.

Aside from an accidental tribute to the fact that Hilda and Zelda love riddles (and possibly cheat), Ice Adventures Remains pretty far away from all the sitcoms of the '90s, but that was almost not the case.

In episode five, the entire Spellman family is trapped by a nightmarish demon (who had already been trapped by Sabrina's father) who puts them all to sleep and sends them into horrible nightmares. In the beginning, Sabrina's nightmare was going to be very different, with many more laughter tracks.

"Originally, I was going to make Sabrina's nightmare while she was trapped in a sitcom in tribute to the TV show," said designer Roberto Aguirre- Sacasa to E! New. "I was really seduced by this idea." My bosses said, "Look, we love the 90s show, we understand what you're doing, but give it a sound before you start doing that kind of thing. "And they were right, Sabrina's nightmare would be like the sitcoms of the '90s or' 90s."

If you are now a little disappointed, do not worry. Aguirre-Sacasa said that we could always "absolutely" have such a tribute – and there will be many opportunities, given the increase in magic that we will see in Season Two – just a little later.

As for the puzzles, fans of Sabrina the teenager may remember that Hilda and Zelda were working together on puzzles, especially during the first season. In the first episode of Sabrina's icy adventures, aunts are also working on a puzzle, Hilda joking about the fact that she could simply paint a piece to fit it. Aguirre-Sacasa said that he had no idea that it was an accidental homage.

"Wait, was it in the 90s show? Oh my God, I did not know it, I did not do it consciously, no," he said. "No, it sounds like an old-fashioned co-dependent activity, I think it's what it was but I like it to be a tribute to the series." did not know it. "

There's also a little nod to Sabrina's 90s show and the original comic when, in the first episode, Sabrina returns from a great evening with Harvey, shows the radio on the radio and starts playing music. Aguirre-Sacasa revealed that this little moment breaks the rules of the series magic, which are far more complicated than they were in previous versions of the Sabrina world.

"We've talked a lot about this moment with the radio and I love it, but it's promising, as if Sabrina had a telekinesis, we did not play exactly," he says.
