Sadio Mané unlikely to perform for Liverpool against Paris Saint-Germain

Sadio Mané was struck by illness and is now a doubt for the Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain in Liverpool.

Liverpool will face the defender League 1 Champions at the Parc des Princes in Paris on Wednesday night and will travel to France Tuesday before the meeting of Group C. The match is important because a victory over PSG will guarantee the qualification of Liverpool for the knockout stages of the UCL.

Sadio Mané recently signed a new long-term agreement with Liverpool that lasts until 2023, ensuring that the top three Premier League players will be with the club for years to come, with Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah having signed their long-term contract earlier this year. Mané was in a good mood this weekend after Liverpool beat Watford by three goals to zero (WAT 0 – 3 LIV) at Vicarage Road, saying the Reds were more than capable and had the good mentality to defeat PSG, during an interview with French football program, Telefoot. Saturday's match was the 13th in the Premier League campaign and Liverpool (with Manchester City) remains undefeated.

Mané was to be part of the pre-match press conference that will be hosted by Jürgen Klopp at the Parc des Princes stadium shortly after the Reds' arrival in Paris on Tuesday. However, Klopp will make the final decision regarding Mané's physical condition on Tuesday morning and the winger will be evaluated once the Reds have completed their last training session at Melwood before leaving for their trip. Mané will have every opportunity to show that he is cured of his illness and that he is well enough to travel. Hopefully he will get rid of the situation when the first team will have to be announced and it will appear on the scoresheet!

Liverpool's clashes with Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday will be their 201st match on the European stage. The Reds will play in their home kit and will therefore be entirely red, while PSG will be wholly white after they choose to play in their hallway outside for the match against UCL. The Reds already have a slight advantage after defeating PSG 3 – 2 in September at Anfield and will try to do the same thing on Wednesday night!

The powerful reds!
