Salads sold at Trader Joe's in Louisiana recalled to listeria, concerns about salmonella

Trader Joe's recalled three types of packaged salads as they could be contaminated with listeria and / or salmonella. Salads have been sold in several states, including Louisiana.

The retailer Wednesday (Oct. 17) said its supplier had said the corn in salads could be contaminated. According to Trader Joe's, no contamination has been confirmed and no disease has been reported.

The reminder is for:

  • Salad inspired by Mexicali from Jose Merchant
  • Trader Joe's Barbecue Flavored Chicken Salad
  • Chopped fresh salad and grilled chicken breast Trader Joe's Field

The recalled salads have "best buy" dates from 15/10/18 to 10/20/18. They have been sold in Louisiana, Texas, Tennessee, Colorado, Idaho, Oklahoma, Oregon, New Mexico and Washington.

Consumers should throw salads or return them to the store for a full refund. Read Trader Joe's full press release.

Trader Joe's has two stores in Louisiana – one in Metairie and one in Baton Rouge.

Whole Foods and 7-Eleven also recalled several salads containing corn on the same contamination issues. However, Whole Foods said its items were only sold in California. Learn more about the recall of Whole Foods. And 7-Eleven salads are only sold in Texas, according to the Associated Press.
