Sam Darnold of the New York Jets will probably be Sunday with a sprained foot

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold is not expected to play Sunday after spraining his right foot last Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, according to a league source.

The injury is considered each week, the source said. After battling the Buffalo Bills, the Jets have their farewell week, followed by a home game against the New England Patriots.

The New York Daily News first reported the sprain.

On Wednesday, Darnold was seen on the training ground with a boot while he was watching the quarterback exercises on the far field, away from the media.

Substitute Josh McCown, who has not played yet, takes the start against the Bills at MetLife Stadium.

The Jets did not reveal the injury even though Darnold admitted after the match that he was "rung". On Monday, the rookie said he was "fine".

Coach Todd Bowles said Monday that he was unaware of any injuries. The injury was not made public until the journalists trained and saw Darnold on the side.

Bowles still has to go to the media on Wednesday.

Darnold, a choice of USC in the first round, has just finished the worst game of his career: a performance of four interceptions in a 13-6 loss. He called it "stupid football". He leads the NFL with 14 steals, including seven in the last three games.

On Monday, Bowles said it was not his intention to put Darnold on the bench. The wound changes this plane.

McCown, 39, was the full-time starter of the Jets last season, posting career figures before his broken hand kept him out of the 13th game. Free agent, he signed for $ 10 million on a one year contract.
