The New York Jets will again be without their quarter of the future this week. Sam Darnold, still injured in the foot, was removed from Sunday's game against his rival, the New England Patriots. Veteran substitute Josh McCown will start in Darnold's place.
Darnold was named the Jets off the training camp and played well on his first start against the Detroit Lions in a big win in Week 1, but struggled to get away from it. go out later before getting hurt. From Week 2 to 9, Darnold completed only 53% of his passes and averaged 6.5 yards per attempt, scoring nine touchdowns and 13 steals. The Jets went 2-6 in these eight games.

McCown started the last game of New York before the farewell, an embarrassing defeat of 41-10 in the hands of Invoices. McCown struggled, scoring only 17 of 34 passes for 135 yards, no touchdowns and two selections. The Jets totaled 199 rushing yards, their second lowest total of the year.
It was initially assumed that Darnold would be ready to face the Pats coming out of the Jets' By (watch the Sunday match at 1 pm ET on CBS, streaming on CBS All Access or fuboTV, try it for free), but he did not train at all this week and was instead excluded. McCown will take another start as the Jets wait for Darnold's foot injury to be healed. They will face the Titans, Bills, Texans, Packers and Patriots in their last five games of the season.
