Sam Smith has retired from his Friday concert at the iHeartRadio Music Festival.

The singer of "Stay with Me", 26, made the announcement on Twitter, citing "unforeseen circumstances".

"Dear everyone, Due to unforeseen circumstances that occurred after the rehearsal, it became clear that I am unfortunately unable to play at the iHeart Radio Music Festival in Vegas tonight," he said. "I'm so sorry for that and I want to apologize to all my fans, all my love, always, Sam x"

Although Smith did not reveal the reason, it may be due to a vocal injury, according to Variety.

The show continued though without Smith, with performances by Mariah Carey, Panic! at the disco, Childish Gambino, Jason Aldean, Kygo and more.
