Sam Smith, scheduled to perform Friday night (September 21st) at the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Festival, announced around 9pm. PT, after the show had already started, that he was forced to cancel due to "unforeseen circumstances".
According to his statement on Twitter and what Ryan Seacrest told the T-Mobile Arena crowd during the show, the singer had repeated for his performance as planned, but something "after the rehearsal" that prevented him from playing.
"Dear everyone, Due to unforeseen circumstances that occurred after the rehearsal, it became clear that I am unfortunately unable to play at the iHeart Radio Music Festival in Vegas tonight," his statement said on Twitter. "I'm so sorry about this and I want to apologize to all my fans, all my love, always, Sam x."

The show must continue, and in addition to the sets already made by Fleetwood Mac, Childish Gambino and Jack White, the spectators still have performances of Mariah Carey, Rae Sremmurd, Jason Aldean, Kygo and Panic! at the disco waiting impatiently.
