EUREKA, Juab County – The sheriff's deputies arrested a man who, according to them, allegedly murdered a sandy woman when they went camping last week.
Cody Alexander Young, 42, was sentenced Saturday night in Juab County Jail for an investigation into the murder of 64-year-old Jan Pearson-Jenkins.
A family member on Saturday discovered the body of Pearson-Jenkins about a kilometer from where they would camp on October 4 in the Silver City area of Juab County.

The body was sent to the Office of the Medical Examiner of the State of Utah to be identified there, said Juab County Deputy Sheriff, Brent Pulver.
Pearson-Jenkins' brother, Jace Pearson, said that Young had sent him an SMS on October 5, informing him that the two men had quarreled and that he had left her alone. in the Silver City / Eureka area.
Sandy police investigating the incident at that time, while a missing persons case was providing the Juab County Sheriff's Office with GPS coordinates of where the victim would have been filed at 11 pm that night, said Pulver.
The searches for Pearson-Jenkins were unsuccessful, as were the attempts to locate or contact Young. But during a coordinated search Saturday with the sheriff's office and the family and friends of the victim, a campsite was located "where evidence was found indicating that it was there that the individuals were camping" said Pulver in a statement.
About an hour later, the body was about a kilometer and a half from this campsite.
About two hours after the discovery of the body, rangers from Yuba State Park spotted Young and his van near Yuba Lake, about 45 km from the campsite. When interrogated by detectives, he was later arrested on the death of Pearson-Jenkins, the NCO said.
The investigators did not explain how they thought she had died or what Young had told them.
Pearson said the SMS that Young had sent him was odd. Young would have sent a text stating that he had thrown Pearson-Jenkins out of his van because he "no longer wanted to tolerate his behavior".
"It flouted, it's 55 pages of SMS talking about their crazy relationship," he said, adding that the argument might have to do with money.
"It was work that my sister had done to Cody to do some repair work at my mom's house," Pearson said.
