PARIS (Reuters) – The US Food and Drug Administration has approved Sanofi's new pediatric vaccine to immunize children against six diseases, the French pharmaceutical company said on Wednesday.

Sanofi has developed the new vaccine, called Vaxelis, in partnership with Merck.

Vaxelis is intended for children aged 6 weeks to 4 years and is designed to prevent them from contracting diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio, hepatitis B and invasive diseases due to the hemophilus of type B.

Sanofi and Merck are currently working on the production and supply of Vaxelis with the aim of making it available on the market from 2020.
