SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Small businesses add flavor to a local community and offer unique items that you may not find in department stores.
Press Juicery, located in the city center, has been open for only two weeks. They offer juices and other healthy food products at affordable prices and hope that today will spark regular business.
"I like this day because there are so many small businesses that people do not know and it makes them aware. And we want our name mentioned and people coming back and we hope it will do for us, "said Ally Severn, Pressed Juicery Manager.
In Midtown, Midtown has partnered with Sac Regional Transit to make it easier for customers to shop on site. Today, people can park for free at designated meter locations and borrow free regional transit to support local small businesses.
A boost for shops like Wild Poppy & CO.
Jacqueline Greene, owner of Wild Poppy & CO, said: "Everything we select is done by hand, by myself or by Cory, the other owner. When someone buys from us, he supports our dream, he supports what we do here and actually supports our entire community. Midtown is such a special place for small businesses and we like to be part of it. "
According to the Midtown Association, 68% of the money spent on local small businesses stays in the local community. These companies hope that Saturday's small business will be the spark they need to get people back.
