SNL is coming back from a break and tackling current topics both politically and on the red carpet.

Ego Nwodim joins the cast of "Saturday Night Live" for the 44th season of the show.
Nwodim is one of the few black women to have participated in the long series of sketches, preceded by Yvonne Hudson, Danitra Vance, Ellen Cleghorne, Maya Rudolph, Sasheer Zamata and current cast member, Leslie Jones .
Like other newcomers, Nwodim will be a "star" player. She replaces Luke Null, who does not return after a year's stay.
Nwodim has a degree in biology from the University of Southern California. She has been a regular actress at the UCB Theater of Los Angeles where she performed her one-woman show, "Great Black Women … and Then There Me".
The show returns on September 29, Adam Driver being the host and Kanye West the musical guest.
