Say cheese, Americans. According to a report released by the United States Department of Agriculture, the United States has experienced their largest surplus of cheese in over 100 years.

According to WXYZ, this represents a 6% increase over the 2017 figures, reports the Washington Post. It is also 16 percent higher since a previous surplus made a federal cheese buy-out needed in 2016.
The surplus was caused by too much milk available for dairy processors, the Post reported.
"I predict we are going," said John Newton, director of business information at the American Farm Bureau Federation. "We produce more milk. It's inevitable. This milk must be transformed into something storable. "
The lowest stock was held in 1918, the USDA said, when there were 23 million pounds of cheese
