A Scotsman celebrating the end of his cancer treatment has failed on an exotic island after a new tumor has made him unable to return home.

Jon Paul McAllister was traveling with his fiancé, Craig, to celebrate the end of his chemotherapy treatment and their engagement.

He was diagnosed with incurable colon cancer at stage four earlier this year.

Tests revealed that his cancer had returned and that a new tumor had made him deemed medically unfit to return home with a commercial airline.

The couple has had an unsuccessful battle with their insurance company and now face a £ 35,000 bill for medical care and an air ambulance for their return flight to Scotland.

Addressing the Daily Record Online, Craig said: "JP is currently in sleep, constantly vomiting and bedridden due to lack of energy.

"We are both desperate to return home, his condition is not improving.

"The news of the return of his cancer scared us both."
