Scientists have set up an experiment with orangutans.

Orangutans are able to perceive the past and even transmit messages of historical events related to their loved ones. The paper was published in the journal Science Advances, according to Naked Science, reports Chronicle.info with a reference to UKRINFORM.

Scientists from St. Andrews University (Scotland) conducted an experiment with orangutans in their natural environment.

The researchers wanted to know if the people who applied it had a similar competence with a language of non-human apes, especially orangutans.

For the experiment, the authors arrived on the island of Sumatra which is the natural habitat of orangutans. The essence of the experiment was that some scientists were covered with coats of different colors (white, speckled, patterns and imitations of the skin of a tiger), and then slipped up to the trees, which were seven mothers with little ones.

One of the participants in the experiment described by Adriano Reis and Lameira (Adriano Reis e Lameira) was the process.

"Suddenly, the female stopped, grabbed her baby, had a bowel movement (stress symptom) and slowly started to climb to the tree. She did not make any sound. 20 minutes later, after leaving the "predator", he started snapping his lips and continued for hours.

According to the authors, this delay is due to two reasons. First, females try to protect the offspring because they do it quietly without attracting the attention of a predator. Secondly, they teach the little ones to indicate the last threat, namely an action accomplished in the past.
