Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft and owner of the Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trailblazers, announced Monday that he was fighting cancer.
"I recently learned that the non-Hodgkin lymphoma that I had fought against in 2009 was back," he said. Allen wrote on Twitter. "I started the treatment and my doctors are optimistic to see a good result.Enjoy the support I've received and count it to meet this challenge."
Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is a cancer that develops in white blood cells, called lymphocytes, that are part of the body's immune system. Lymphomas can develop anywhere in the body where lymphatic tissue is found, according to the American Cancer Society. See additional details here.
Last month, Allen announced a $ 30 million spending plan to house 94 homeless and low-income families in South Seattle. Follow this link for more details. Allen is also co-owner of Seattle Sounders FC.
