ATLANTA (AP) – Left-handed Sean Newcomb will start the third game of the NL Division series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, not Kevin Gausman.

While the Braves led 2-0 in the top-five series, Atlanta manager Brian Snitker made the change on Saturday.

On July 29, 25-year-old Newcomb nearly drew a draw against the Dodgers. He launched two scoreless innings as a sign of relief for starter Mike Foltynewicz in Thursday's opening game.

"We have to win," said Snitker. "It's not that Gausman is not giving us this opportunity, we love the way Newcomb fits them and the success he's had against the Dodgers this year."

Snitker said he discussed the change with general manager Alex Anthopoulos on the return flight after Atlanta's 3-0 defeat on Friday. They agreed to move on Saturday afternoon.

Gausman is 5-3 with an average of 2.87 points in 10 starts since his acquisition of Baltimore.

"Snit came to talk to me in the plane before take-off, tell me it was a possibility, so keep the mind in mind before going to bed," said Newcomb. .

Newcomb made 134 career-high pitches when he won 8-3 / 3 wins over Los Angeles in a 4-1 win on July 29th. Taylor let go 2-2 with two outs in the ninth.

Newcomb was 12-9 with a silver-point average of 3.90 in his first full-season big league, but averaged 5.68 in ten late-season starts.

Right-hand rookie Walker Buehler should start for the Dodgers. He was awarded a 6-inning 2/3 innings without points on Monday, in the 5-2 win over Colorado in the tiebreaker of the NL West and finished 8-5. with a round of 2.62.

Atlanta was outclassed 9-0 in the first two games, handling only nine hits. Only two riders reached third base.

Snitker said he could move Ozzie Albies, second scorer of second base, into the second-place formation. He does not anticipate any modification of his team of eight starts.

"We have to withdraw security and start firing," Snitker said.
