Bradley International Airport, Connecticut, said the airport suffered a power outage due to its main power source.
The airport said Terminal A previously operated with backup power. Some areas worked with lights and others did not.
Airport officials are working to determine the cause of the power outage and are trying to resume normal operations as quickly as possible.
Feeding problems also have an impact on the TSA filter area of the airport and no filtering is underway.
You could see a crowd of people standing in the dark near the TSA checkpoint at around 4am. Some lights went out around 4:45 before returning around 5:00 in the morning.
Around 5:30 in the morning, the lights went out. Officials said they hoped to turn on the lights again 20 minutes later.
Hundreds of people are stuck in terminals waiting to get their ticket and go through the TSA.
If you need to catch the plane this morning, please contact your airline for the status of your flight.
NBC Connecticut has a crew at the airport and will update this story as soon as details are available.
