The Joker of Joaquin Phoenix finally sees the day.

The film's director, Todd Phillips, shared a video of 43-year-old Phoenix as a comic villain on his Instagram Friday. Although he's already offered a character-like look to Phoenix, the end of the video features the actor in full makeup for the first time, with the scary smile of the clown in full screen.

The video begins with Phoenix smiling as the projections play on his face. The footage then zooms in on his face until the last second when the image changes to show the actor smiling while wearing the signature of The Joker's clown. He goes from terrifying to terrifying when he suddenly stops smiling.

While details of the plot have been concealed, Phoenix has already spoken about taking the character in a July interview with collider.
