Senator Ben Sasse, R-Nebraska, said Saturday on Twitter that he was considering "regularly" leaving the Republican Party. He made this remark in response to a tweet from a user who declared he was no longer a member of the Democratic Party and had no affiliation.

Sasse frequently criticizes President Trump. After Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in July, Sasse told "CBS This Morning" that the president "does not lead".
