Serena Williams has advanced to the Wimbledon semifinals in her quest to win an eighth trophy at the grass-short major championship.
Williams continued her march towards the final, beating Camila Giorgi of Italy 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in Tuesday's quarterfinals. She'll play Julia Goerges of Germany, who defeated former French semifinalist Kiki Bertens of Netherland 3-6, 7-5, 6-1
The American miss last year's Wimbledon while on maternity leave. Williams is the favorite to win his 24th Grand Slam singles title having last won the tournament in 2016. The departure of seventh-seeded Karolina Pliskova in the fourth round Monday meant all the top 10 seeds were ousted early.
Earlier in the day, Angelique Kerber Daria Kasatkina beat 6-3, 7-5 to reach the Wimbledon semifinals for the third time
