Serena Williams could not be more proud of her good friend Meghan Markle.
After Kensington Palace revealed Monday that the actress "Suits" had secretly visited and worked on a recipe book with a group of women affected by the terrible fire of the Grenfell tower in 2017, the great tennis player has publicly spoken Markle's work.

Markle started visiting the group in January 2018, only months after his involvement with Prince Harry. The woman and her cookbook mean a lot to the Duchess of Sussex.
"I immediately felt connected to this community kitchen. It's a place where women can laugh, cry, cry and cook together, "she said in a statement posted on the Royal Foundation website.

Williams and Markle have been friends since 2015. At the time Markle continued blogging on her now closed website, The Tig, she talked about her friendship with the tennis player.
"She quickly became a confidante when I was traveling, the friend I would gather for her tennis matches and the down-to-earth owl with which I was able to have lunch a few weeks ago in Toronto," said Markle.
Williams and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit, received a coveted invitation to the royal wedding on May 19th.
