AUSTIN, Texas – Sergio Perez will stay with Force India for a sixth season in 2019.
A contract extension for the Mexican driver seems likely for several months since the financial takeover that saved the team in August. This process was triggered when Perez filed a lawsuit against the team, which allowed the directors to speak to interested parties.
Force India helped revive Perez's career in 2014 after hiring him after a tough season at McLaren. Since then, he has won five podiums for the team, most recently at this year's Azerbaijani Grand Prix.
