Seven people were injured Sunday night in a stabbing attack in Paris.

The attack occurred around 10:45. local time when a man armed with a crowbar and a knife attacked people in the 19th arrondissement, north-east of Paris, according to La Parisien,

The attacker allegedly stabbed three people at the MK2 theater near the quai de la Loire, La Parisien reported, before two men playing petanque in a neighboring court tried to disrupt the assailant by throwing a bullet at him.

The attacker continued on the street, attacking several other people, including two British tourists, before the police stopped him.

The Parisian said that the alleged attacker is of Afghan origin.

Authorities said seven people were injured, four of them seriously injured.

According to La Parisien, there was no indication of terror, although the police did not reveal any motive.

Paris has been the scene of several large scale terrorist attacks in recent years, although no major attacks have occurred since 2015.

France has seen smaller attacks from lone wolves in recent months. In May, a Chechen national attacked four people in Paris with a knife, killing one and injuring four.

In June, a woman stabbed two people with a cutter in a supermarket in Toulon. In August, a 19-year-old Afghan asylum seeker stabbed four people in the town of Périgueux in southwestern France.
