Several buildings of the Jembrana Regency, in Bali, were damaged as a result of a magnitude 6.0 earthquake that occurred Thursday at 2:44 am local time.

According to a report by the Bali Disaster Protection Agency (BNPB), most of the damaged buildings are houses owned by residents of the Jembrana Regency. No cases of casualties have been reported.

A recent update of a headquarters of the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) in Nusa Dua, Badung regency, revealed that there were 11 replicas of a magnitude between 2.5 and 3.5. However, no significant impact was recorded on the Nusa Dua buildings, located 117 km from Jembrana.

The earthquake, which hit eastern Java, resulted in the deaths of three people in the regency of Situbondo, in East Java. The epicenter of the earthquake was in the sea, 12 km deep and 161 km northwest of Denpasar, Bali. No tsunami warning was triggered after the earthquake.

Earlier, the Meteorological, Climatic and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) said the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.4 but later revised it to a magnitude of 6.0. The website of the US Geological Survey said the quake had a magnitude of 6.0. (Evi)
