Several deaths in a Schoharie accident involving a wedding party

"I heard screams." It sounded serious because people were running, "said Schoharie's Bridey Finegan.

The horrible accident occurred just before 2 pm at the intersection of Routes 30 and 30A in front of the Apple Barrel store and its cafe.

The neighbors living nearby say they heard a loud bang and went out to see people running coffee to help. They say the first responders arrived soon after and immediately went to work.

"They used it, I think it's called the jaws of life to get into the car," said Finegan.

People at the Apple Barrel said that several pedestrians were also affected while trying to enter the store while their family members were already inside.

"This is a two-vehicle, multiple-casualty investigation," said State Police Capt Richard O'Brien, "very preliminary." In its early days, we have several units investigating. "

The neighbors say that they are still in shock. They say the number of first responders needed was overwhelming.

"I saw someone get picked up by ambulance, but they had trouble getting other people out," Finegan said.

The police are not able to confirm any other details yet. Some eyewitnesses to the accident said that the limousine had crossed the intersection, hitting another car and pedestrians before entering the ravine.

This is not the first time that an accident occurs at this location. Large trucks have recently been banned from going down the hill in the intersection to avoid potential accidents.
