HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) –
The authorities treated several people with minor injuries in Hollywood and Highland after mobilizing a large crowd for rapper Phora's promotional event.
The YouTube celebrity appeared at the Shoe Palace store for an appointment. Social media reported that people queued for hours to see the SoCal native, born Marco Anthony Archer.
The rapper had just released a new album and is preparing to launch a tour.
The AIR7HD video showed paramedics providing medical treatment to several patients at the scene.
Some members of the crowd told Eyewitness News that they saw people posing as panic attacks and fainting when Phora came out due to the intensity of the crowd. They said that there was no stampede.
"Essentially, he came out and got on a car and everybody went out and fell into a mine hole, everybody went crazy, I saw three people just fainting," said a fan.
Paramedics reported that 10 people had been assessed for minor injuries at the scene and that eight of them – described as teenagers and young adults – had been taken to local hospitals for further evaluation. .
Phora spoke to Eyewitness News shortly after the event.
"I'm really sorry," he says. "Personally, I myself took someone to the hospital – it's very hectic here tonight." I appreciate the fans, I appreciate the fact. 39; love. "
Others on social media have reported excessive pressure in the crowd.
Phora could be seen outside the store, welcoming the fans later. He tweeted after the event that he thought there were no serious injuries.
