Philadelphia police investigate a shootout in the Germantown section on Wednesday afternoon.
It arrived around 2:30 pm on Germantown Avenue and Manheim Street.
Police said several people were hanging out near a wall at the end of an alley outside a Dollar General store when a white car arrived by car and somebody was walking around. one opened fire from the inside.
"The occupants of a White Chevy Impala went through the parking lot, firing several shots, hitting the five men," said Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross. "They then turned north on Germantown Avenue."
Ross said the police believed that there was more than one person in the car.
Five people were taken to the Einstein Medical Center with gunshot wounds.
Police said that a 23-year-old man was shot in the left hand, a 19-year-old man was shot in the right hand, another 19-year-old man was shot in the right foot and a 20-year-old man was hit in the right arm. All were taken to the Einstein Medical Center where they are in stable condition.
A fifth man, aged 20, was shot in the head. Police took him to Einstein Medical Center in critical condition.
Ross stated that the shooting did not appear to be random and that the police believed that the victims were the target targets.
Investigators said that no weapons had been recovered and that the reason for the shooting was unknown at the moment.
