A suspect was in detention after several people, including children, were found cut off Friday in a daycare center in New York, police said.

At least three people were injured during the Queens House massacre around 15:30, WABC-TV reported. The injuries were considered non-lethal, the police said.

According to the station, the suspect, identified only as a woman in her thirties, was found in the basement of the house with self-inflicted wrist cuts.

She was reportedly treated in a hospital for a non-fatal injury. His relationship with the children was not immediately clear.

The other children in the daycare were not injured, the authorities said.
