Several people were killed on Thursday after a "horrific shootout" at a distribution center in Aberdeen, Maryland, said a law enforcement official at the Associated Press.
A law enforcement official told The Associated Press that several people had been killed in the shooting after the police had initially stated that there were "multiple casualties". The law enforcement official became aware of the shooting, but was not allowed to discuss it by name and requested anonymity for the Associated Press.
The Harford County Sheriff's Office has confirmed shooting near the Spesutia and Perryman roads in Aberdeen. FOX Baltimore reports that the first shots were reported just after 9am at the Liberty Support Facility, part of Rite Aid's distribution center.
It was not known whether the officials had taken someone in custody in connection with the incident.
"We are closely watching this horrible shooting in Aberdeen, our prayers are with all those who have been affected, including our first responders, and the state is ready to offer any support," said Maryland Governor Larry Hogan.
"We can confirm that there was shooting in the area of Spesutia Road and Perryman Road. Several victims. The situation is always fluid. Please avoid the area, "tweeted the sheriff's office.
The FBI Baltimore said that he was reacting to an active shooting situation.
