At least three people were killed Thursday after a "horrific shootout" at a Maryland distribution center, an Associated Press law enforcement official said.

Police first reported that there were "multiple casualties," and the Harford County Sheriff's Office confirmed shooting near the Spesutia and Perryman roads in Aberdeen. FOX Baltimore reports that the first shots were reported just after 9am at the Liberty Support Facility, part of Rite Aid's distribution center.

A law enforcement official told Fox News that the shooter was possibly a woman and that the incident was no longer an active shooting situation from 11:30 am.

A press conference was scheduled at 11:45.

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan described the scene as "horrible".

"We are closely watching the shooting in Aberdeen.Our prayers are with all those who have been affected, including our first responders.The state is ready to offer any support," Hogan said.

"We can confirm that there was shooting in the area of ​​Spesutia Road and Perryman Road. Several victims. The situation is always fluid. Please avoid the area, "tweeted the sheriff's office.

The Baltimore FBI said it was responding to the situation, and a spokesman told Fox News that one of the office's crisis teams was on its way.

Aberdeen is located about 30 miles northeast of Baltimore.
